Consider this first...

The reasons most often given when surrendering a husky are:

* I don't have enough time to spend with my husky
* My husky needs more exercise than I can provide
* My husky is destructive when left alone in the back yard/house
* My husky howls when alone
* I found a husky and I cannot keep it
* We just had a baby and now we don't want the husky in the house
* We must move and the new place won't allow dogs (especially not HUSKIES!)

Most of these can problems be solved with good training. Yes, training does cost money, but it is well worth every penny if you take the time to find a trainer that uses methods you can use yourself. Beware of any trainer who promises quick fixes or equipment such as shock collars. Bad habits do not develop overnight and good training will likely not solve the problem overnight. If there was a quick fix, you would have already thought of it, right?

Many of the other issues can be solved with good management. If you are not crating your husky when he/she is unsupervised, you should reconsider. If you are opposed to crating (and if you take a few minutes to learn about how/why crating works you may just change your mind) then one dog-proof room will do. There are also dog day cares and professional dog walkers that can help.
